Katy Davison is my name, butter is my game. I grew up in a tiny East Texas town called Kilgore. We are known for Oil (World’s Richest Acre y’all), the Rangerettes and most importantly that good home-cooking served with a side of southern hospitality. Growing up in the piney woods of East Texas meant that butter is a kitchen staple. Everything. Contained. Butter. I even ate butter with chips and salsa. That is why the name Butter Than The Rest is a perfect fit for this blog. I love butter. I could name a million things to add butter to just like Bubba from Forrest Gump. Butter makes everything better, including you. It’s creamy, salty, sweet and will always make you feel like you are at home cooking in the kitchen with your mama.
My stepdad is the one who really showed me how to cook; he used it as a stress reliever, and now I do too. When I was younger, and he was showing me the ins and outs of cooking, I didn’t realize how much I would love it later on in life. I really became obsessed with cooking and hosting around the end of college, and now it’s all I think about. I went to Texas Tech only knowing how to cook two things: chicken spaghetti and goulash. The more I would have my friends over to my house for wine nights and dinner, the more I would try to find new recipes to cook for them. I became obsessed with making delicious meals, hosting my friends and seeing how happy it made them to have a home cooked meal. So basically what I’m trying to say is, thank you to all of my college friends for putting up with me cooking home cooked meals every chance I got, telling me they were amazing and encouraging me to start this blog. I should also say I’m sorry if you gained any weight in college, it was my fault…. It was probably from all the BUTTER.
