French Dip
This is one of my all time favorite sandwiches. I LOVE roast beef. I know, I know its not a healthy meat, like turkey or some shit but it taste like heaven. Dunking it into the au jus is my favorite part, how the juice soaks into the hoagie. I like to eat it with a Cesar salad with it so I don’t feel as bad about adding 10 pounds to my ass.
Ingredients:
2 lbs sliced thin roast beef
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp dry mustard
3 Garlic Cloves (minced)
2 tbs Worcestershire
6 hoagies
4 tbs butter (room temp)
1 tbs flour
12 slices provolone cheese
1 yellow onion (sliced)
Directions:
Melt 2 tbs butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and garlic. Sauté until tender. Add flour to pan and 1-2 teaspoons of beef broth to and scrape and stir to make a paste. Add Worcestershire, dry mustard and remaining broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15 min. Add the roast beef and let heat for about 5/10 min. Spread butter onto each open hoagie and toast in oven on broil until golden brown. Remove meat from liquid and let all the liquid drip off before adding it to the hoagie, you don’t want to make the bread soggy. I would even pat the meat dry before adding it. After you have put the meat on the bread, put two slices of provolone per sandwich. Add back to the oven to toast, broil until the cheese is melty and bubbly. Remove and lather in Tiger Dill sauce. Strain the Au Jus and add it to a small ramekin or small heat safe bowl for dipping you Sammy in. SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!
Tiger Dill Sauce:
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup horseradish
1 tbs dried dill
1 tsp garlic salt
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate for at least an hour.
