Salted Caramel Brownies

I don’t really have anything to say about this recipe except they are fucking phenomenal. The caramel is a game changer and plan brownies are mere peasants compared to these gooey, gooey fudgey chocolate squares.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter (softened)

2 eggs

1 cup flour

1 tsp salt

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

3 tbs milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 cups individual caramels

1/4 cup water

1 tbs sea salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a square baking pan with parchment paper. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, add in the butter, sugar, vanilla, salt and eggs. In a separate mixing bowl, add together flour, baking powder and cocoa powder and whisk until mixed together. Pour dry ingredients into the bowl with the wet ingredients, and mix until well incorporated. Mix in oil and milk. Melt the chocolate chips in microwave with a little bit of milk, in 30 second intervals until smooth. Pour into the brownie mixture, and whisk. Finally, pour into the baking pan and place in the oven for 30 min, poke it with a fork, when you remove the fork and it is clean then that means they are done. If not bake for 5 min intervals until fork comes out clean. Remove brownies from oven and let cool. Melt the caramels and water in a small saucepan on low heat. Stirring the whole time until smooth. Pour over cooled brownies and sprinkle sea salt all over the top. Let settle for and hour and cut into squares.
